Travels with Tiffany

Posted on: May 16, 2024

Do you love to go on adventures and explore the world? Well, that is one of my favorite things to do when I am not working. There is so much to see in this world, and I feel like I have just begun, even though I have traveled quite a bit.

When I was growing up, both of my parents were in education, and they also loved to travel. To make it affordable for a family of four, we started traveling using my grandparents' old silver-top trailer. It was navy blue with a yellow swoosh on the exterior and had a silver roof. The interior had knotty pine everything with a free-standing sleeper sofa, kitchen area, and a back bedroom with queen-sized bunk beds. After a few years, my parents purchased their trailer, which was a quirky thing with one fold-out bed for my sister and me. We traveled everywhere in the United States and Canada, so I am fortunate to have visited every state in the U.S., thanks to my parents. My dad was a history buff, so wherever we went that had some sort of historical significance, he would verbally paint a picture of the events. My mom liked to find quirky sites, like one where the water runs backward. Needless to say, we had a multitude of adventures!

Fast forward to 2020, I had gone from traveling internationally a few times a year to… nothing. My wanderlust was kicking in… but I figured that soon enough I would be out exploring again. The pandemic dragged on, and by the end of 2021, I was a bit stir-crazy. So, I went to the RV show and thought, let’s look at little baby lightweight trailers… and six months later, Tiffany was delivered! She is a sweet little 20-foot GeoPro, and I had to dress her up when she arrived. I asked a dear friend of mine to help, and she asked, "What is her signature color?" After sleeping on that question overnight, I answered, "Tiffany blue, and her accent color is orange!" Fast forward to the present day, and Tiffany has all Tiffany blue plates, silverware, cutting boards, bedding, accent pillows, coffee cups and beverage tumblers, accent towels, and, of course, a martini shaker. Tiffany and I have taken a few adventures over the past two years, and this year we have five trips planned.

The first trip of 2024 was just last weekend when we went to Leavenworth for a wine spring release party up off Icicle Creek Road at Bordeaux. I secured a spot at Icicle Creek RV Resort right on Icicle Creek, which was amazing. We attended the Maiday event in Leavenworth, and my favorite part was when the Burmese Mountain Dogs were marching by, all dressed up, and some even pulling wagons.

No matter what size or type of trailer you have or rent, it’s fun to just head out and explore. You can stay at fancy RV resorts that have a ton of amenities or just head into the mountains and boon-dock it. This year, I joined Harvest Hosts and will be popping by a few places to spend some time and experience a private location or a brewery or winery.

My advice to you is this: Don’t wait to go exploring. Be it a few blocks away or thousands of miles away… go see the world. My saying for the year is… if not now… then when? So, when are you going to take your next adventure?
