The market is unusually active for this time of year, so where sellers may not be as keen to sell their home so close to the holidays, this year, there are advantages. Buyer demand has been shown to be very strong these past few weeks, and this means that sellers are seeing multiple offers and quick transactions. 

So, if you’re ready to sell, here are a few things to consider:

Keep Holiday Decorating to a Minimum

Buyers should be able to visualize themselves in homes that they tour. For this reason, when staging a home, many designers will opt for neutral colors and minimal decor. During the holidays, the same rules apply. It’s fine to have some lights here and there, but refrain from knick-knacks and overly-personalized decorations. This will help buyers think about the memories they could make in the home, versus the ones your family has already made.

Maintain the Landscaping

Fall and winter can mean leaves, branches from the wind, and other weather-related landscaping issues. Make sure these items are promptly addressed so the home looks its best! Be sure to sweep the front steps or porch, and tidy up the deck!

Keep in Contact With Your Advisor, Even Through The Holidays

The real estate market moves fast! Make sure you keep an eye on your cell phone and email for offers, questions, and other items to come in. Certainly, enjoy your holiday time with family, but if your home is on the market, do try to be available and flexible.
