The second annual SPARK Jewish Music Festival features headliner Soulfarm with C Lanzbom. Many more great musicians, food, and kids carnival! From noon to six on August 30th the Seward Park Amphitheater will ignite with SPARK. Headlined by Soulfarm, SPARK is an all ages, outdoor music festival for Seattle's Jewish community. The main stage will feature a full day of music from 12 - 6PM including local stars Nissim, Levi Robin, Eli Rosenblatt, spoken-word artist Ari Lesser and more. Peruse craft vendors, enjoy kosher cuisine, spread your blanket out in the sun and watch the eagles soar overhead to the sounds of contemporary klezmer, Middle Eastern flavored rock, hassidic folk and rap. SPARK is built for Seattle family fun. Kids can frolic in the Kids Korral with squirrel balls, coffee sack races, sports, face painting, and more.

Join us for outdoor adventures this summer at Seward Park Audubon Nature Camps with one-week sessions for 10 -12 year olds. Come explore the outdoors of Seward Park and beyond with swimming, hiking, games, and canopy tree climbing. Thursday night celebrate with a bonfire weenie roast and s'mores, then venture out on a night time owl prowl. If you love physical challenges, build your skills and leadership at Outdoor Adventures Camp August 3 -7 with games and adventures in the woods and the water then tackle the challenge course at Camp Long. $275 for one-week camp. Full and partial scholarships are available to families as needed on a first come, first serve basis.

Seward Park Garden Walk & Talk

Free, but advance tickets are required Ages: 12 and up

Walt Bubelis and Jeanne Schollmeyer will be leading a garden walk at the front entrance of Seward Park. Walt will identify and talk about the backbones of the landscape, which are the trees and shrubs that give visual support to the herbaceous plants at the circle entrance. Jeanne Schollmeyer will talk about the process of creating the seasonal flower display for the beds. Walt Bubelis is the founder of Edmonds Community College's Horticulture program and taught classes on plant identification, soils, insects, diseases, pruning and propagation. Currently, he is on the NPA Board of Directors, the Editorial Board of the Arboretum Bulletin, the UW Botanic Garden Advisory Committee and the Garden Committee of the Kruckeberg Garden. He continues to teach short classes, write articles, travel, and give garden walks for his grads. Jeanne Schollmeyer has been gardening for the City of Seattle for 26 years. She has a variety of gardening experiences working at Seattle Department of Transportation and the Seattle Parks and Recreation Department including operating the Park's Nursery and working at the Volunteer Park Conservatory. Currently she is working as the Park's SE District Senior Gardener. This is a wonderful opportunity to learn more about the lovely landscapes of Seward Park created by the outstanding staff of Seattle Parks Recreation.
