We are just weeks from the start of the New Year, which means designers and homeowners will be looking to 2018 trends to style a home. As Inman reports, this year is “all about warm shades, rugged textures and simple fixtures,” from the return of color and rustic finishes to vintage flair. Wondering what to expect in 2018? Here are a few of the trends you’re likely to see in the next twelve months:
1. Colorful Interiors – Though white will remain a classic in kitchens, expect to see more vibrant options, including the use of natural elements, to breathe life into a room. The jewel tones that set the themes of 2017 will be replaced by a warmer color scheme, including “reds, warm grays and earthy shades of camel, rust, tobacco, brown-blacks and burnt yellow.”
2. The Return of the Floral – Grandma may not be the only one using flowers this year, as floral prints will be back “in a bold and fashionable way,” whether it’s a high contrast black and white or an over-sized bloom.
3. Vintage Fixtures – As Inman writes, “homeowners are gravitating toward vintage-style fixtures, such as aged copper pendant lights, as an unforgettable focal point” for common areas such as a living room or kitchen.
4. Stone Accent – The seemingly ever-popular marble and granite will receive competition from the growing preference for concrete, which is predicted to overtake more than the typical floor or countertop and find its presence in “furniture, decorative accessories and wallcoverings.”
